Sure-fire patches for Zumba anxiety, quiet casings and blue sweat

BY Dr. Michael ROIZEN and Dr. MEHMET OZ, the document

We love you document to help readers manage high cholesterol and belly fat, but sometimes it's the quirky questions really stretch our minds and imagination. (Keep them coming.) These three issues that took the prize for the most challenged us in 2010.

Q: When you have tried Zumba--a sizzling-fun type of Latin dance/drill--injured knee in two days. I have arthritis and certain joint degeneration. This is only a short-term response, or should I not do Zumba classes? --Cathy, via email

A: Are not resign Zumba yet. Some people with arthritis to say this spicy, thrilling mixture of aerobics, salsa and basic dance moves have them move when nothing else has. Zumba show boring exercise classes to a party (without chips and DIP). It is also estimated that you can burn the 400 to 1000 calories an hour to Zumba's Latin beat. But if the effects are too much for your knees, talk with your instructor on the way to still get the benefits but reduce the bounce and dramatic knee is moved. If you are embarrassed about not keeping pace with the warm, just slide into the back of the room. You're likely to find other people's similar adjustments. cooling it together. Also talk to your doc as an Anti-inflammatory one hour before and perhaps after class. Finally starting to do some exercises which leg lifts and stair angle step ups three times a week (start slowly). This will strengthen the muscles around your knees, which helps to support and protect these joints.

Q: My 70-year-old mother has a very odd problems. When she eats a few portions of fish, sweats she blue under their arms. I know it sounds strange, but it is true. Should I be worried about this? --Susan, Buckeye, Ariz.

A: Probably not. It sounds like your MOM has a rare but harmless condition called chromhidrosis, or coloured sweat. Even if the diet is usually not a cause, it is an easy way to test this: she can stop eating fish for a few weeks and see if that stop her from going all Smurfy. (She could take 900 mg of algae-based omega-3s to make up for the fish she exists, see above.) If it is not clear up her "blues", a DERMATOLOGIST to find out if she has a surplus of a yellow pigment called brunaktigt lipofuscin, a by-product of blood cell division. Lipofuscin also known as "wear" or "ageing" pigments because it causes ranging from Brown stains when it accumulates under the skin. Curiously, when lipofuscin apocrine sweat glands will oxidize in--the kind that SECRETE gonads fluid--can sweat activate as many colors as a little Crayola-pack. There is no cure, but a capsaicin cream or aluminum chloride hexahydrate solution (Drysol)--an antiperspirant used for excessive sweating--can help to use. Some docs use even Botox for this if it is a problem that it is her spirit and blue. (Apologies for that, but we want you to know that there is help if this problem affects her quality of life.)

Q: I have a problem that I wonder if others have. I can't poop in all bathrooms as well as my own. My big concern: I have been asked to stay on my in-laws this Thanksgiving. The last time I visited them, go I do not "" until I got home the next afternoon. What can I do? --Yvette, Philadelphia

A: In the United Kingdom called the "loo phobia." In North America we call it "silent intestines." Fear of using a toilet outside the home is a form of social anxiety disorder, anxiety disorder. It can make you avoid leaving the House or drastically change your diet and take strict diarrhea medicine you constipated so you can go out.

There is no quick fix to visit your relatives, but most of the anxiety disorders respond to Desensitization therapy: a Therapist will help you to understand and adapt to the situation that rattles you until it is no longer afraid. Cognitive behaviour therapy is another option, where you challenge your thoughts (no, no, I cannot go) and learn more rational (whaddayah know, yes I can).
