Archiving sessions: Mclusky

As to prepare for the big step from radio one Wales, I take the opportunity to dig a few sessions archive from the last decade of Welsh music and give them a spin.

It was amazing to look at pictures and listening to these recordings are again reminded me of how much has already been achieved with the show, how we were at the heart of all that happened musically in Wales and supported the show some new musicians and dancers. And that's what the Decade of Welsh music was too.

Last week on Radio 1 Andy Falkous-Mclusky and the future of the left join me on the radio one talking about special show we did in 2000, while the launch of one living in Cardiff.

Mclusky 2000

Following is the transcript of the interview, broadcast on November 25, 2010.

The interview starts to explain Andy we've pulled out a Mclusky from 2000 to the radio, as it was a very special moment for the band. They opened the show, followed by Helen love of larger Mo-Ho-bish-o-pi, but really stole the show Mclusky.

Andy: it was a landmark moment for us. 1996 we played a local opening song and it was on the back of this session that we got signed, that Jason from pure too, I heard this recording. [We got signed] is not on the basis of a good is an album that we had, not so much as a stain.

Byte: this was one of those shows that surprised many-one live gig welcome Cardiff, one radio. City kicked into life and Clwb Ifor Bach: it was overcrowded.

Andy: already were around 500 people. It was an incredible show. It was in October 2000, has never played more than 100 people ever, so this was our first exhibition was the sense of an event. Although you should play it every gig, which you can get a sense of the event. It took only 15 minutes to go through the audience.

After hearing the tracks:

Andy: these guys have regardless of the structure of the song. I had not heard that for eight years; Its like looking at a picture of your self with young, tie dye crazy crew shirt.

Byte: what are your memories of Mclusky and key moments?

Andy: I appreciate all this. Parts when we played with the bands ... As I remember we were playing with one program, in London, and the liars is opened by Yes Yes Yeahs. It was the first performance in Britain. We drove along the M4, and Matt attack of panic, and Jon took over driving. So I think he thought it was a game, and he had a panic attack, so we sat at the Membury service. Then the vegetarian ", which was conceived at the time, in a garage liars all, Assaf, arrived five minutes before we were due, threw our stuff on the stage and the big show.
